Choosing the correct propeller for your brushless motor

Choosing the correct propeller for your brushless motor

Graham 01/02/2023 0
Choosing the correct propeller for your brushless motor on an RC plane involves considering several factors, including: Motor KV rating: The KV rating of the motor indicates the number of RPMs it will produce per volt applied, with a higher KV rating indicating a faster spinning motor.Battery voltage: The battery voltage will affect the RPM of the motor and, in turn, the propeller size needed.Propeller size: The size of the propeller will determine the amount of thrust produced by the motor, which will affect the speed and maneuverability of the plane.Weight of the plane: The weight of the pla...

Choosing the Correct Amp E.S.C. for Your Brushless Motor

Choosing the Correct Amp E.S.C. for Your Brushless Motor

Graham 01/02/2023 0
Choosing the Correct Amp E.S.C. for Your Brushless Motor Choosing the right Electronic Speed Controller (E.S.C.) for your brushless motor is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of your remote-controlled (RC) model. The E.S.C. acts as a voltage regulator, controlling the speed and direction of the brushless motor, and protecting it from overloading or overheating. When choosing an E.S.C., there are several factors to consider:Amp Rating: The first and most important factor is the amp rating of the E.S.C. The amp rating should match the maximum current rating of the brushless mo...

Servos An Overview

Servos An Overview

Servos in RC Models: An Overview Remote-controlled (RC) models have become popular among hobbyists, and the use of servos is an integral part of these models. A servo is an electrically operated device that can be programmed to rotate to a specific angle. In the world of RC models, servos are mainly used to control the movement of various parts, such as flaps, rudders, and elevators. There are different types of servos, each with its own unique features and specifications. The following are the most common types of servos used in RC models:Standard Servos: These are the most basic type of serv...

FrSky Current sensors

FrSky Current sensors

Graham 06/02/2019 0
FrSky Current sensors FrSky sells two current sensors, 40A and 150A. I hope they introduce one in between. 40A is a bit low for anything other than small and medium models. 150A is over the top for all but large and EDF models, and it has to be threaded on to the red ESC wire so requiring unsoldering the connector. It’s probably best to make up a special lead with XT90 connectors on each end. The 40A one has male and female XT60 connectors as you see from the picture. OpenTx has a very clever telemetry function called Consumpt. This takes the current (Curr) from a 40A FrSky current sensor, and...
